| On May 27, 2009 at PS#1 School in Santa Monica, Fondazione Azzurra celebrated the end of the scholastic year with students, parents, consular and school authorities with “La Nostra Festa”.
By organizing a time for sharing learning experiences and results and by enjoying great food and music together, the event embodied the spirit of the joy of learning typical of the Italian courses implemented by our Foundation. We believe that the learning of a foreign language occurs through the interaction of motivation, passion, imagination and fun to discover a new reality.
Our Italian teacher Simona guided the students on the path of discovery of the Italian language and culture by immersing them in a pleasant environment where they could play with words, sounds, images, tastes and scents from Italy. Every child had a chance to build her own conception of this different culture and was able to get the tools needed for communication in a natural and spontaneous way.
In our courses we aim to inspire our students to use their imagination to learn Italian, the desire to know more about it and to grow in anticipation of what it will feel like to be in Italy one day soon.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL - Napoli, infamous for organized crime, grit and pizza, is also one of Italy’s most culturally rich and sophisticated cities. In 2007, Roberto Saviano’s sensational bestseller Gomorrah, a true-crime exposé indicting the brutality of the contemporary Neapolitan crime organization known as the Camorra, captured the attention of the whole country. Using Saviano’s work as a point of departure, the festival will explore the dynamic and contradictory visions of Naples and the surrounding region of Campania. Opening night will feature Matteo Garrone’s film adaptation of Gomorrah, which premiered at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. Gomorrah author Roberto Saviano will participate in a very special panel discussion about his work and the state of organized crime.
